Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Allegiance opened it's doors in Tyler, TX in January 2003. We opened an office in Southeast Texas, the following year.
What is your primary product or service?
Primarily, we provide medical and psychiatric nursing to the home bound.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have an entrepreneurial background. My sister, who is my partner is an RN. She worked in the home health industry for several years, after leaving the hospital setting. When she decided that she wanted to open her own agency, she approached me because of my background.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There are so many home health agencies in both of our service areas. For the most part we are all scrambling for the same referrals. Allegiance has the ability to differentiate ourselves from the pak because we also offer psychiatric nursing. But I don't want to discount the quality of our med/surg team. They are the best. Our new hires go thru extensive training before they are released on their own. Even if they have numerous years of experience in home health. Every company operates a little differently and many of them make the mistake of throwing a nurse into the field without proper training.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have two locations; Tyler and Pt Arthur. We have plans to expand our service area, but most likely will not add physical buildings.
Provide detailed directions to your location
Our Tyler agency is at the corner of Broadway and Line St. We are across Line St. from the Chamber building. If headed north on Broadway, you would turn right on Line St. just before you go under the railroad trestle. Our building is on the left.
In Pt Arthur, if you are headed south on Hwy 69, take the Jimmy Johnson exit. Turn left, then take the first right. This road will dead-end into Lake Arthur Dr. Turn left. We are about a 1/8 of a mile on the left in the Legacy Sr. Living complex.
What type of payments do you accept?
Primarily, we accept Medicare and most Medicare Replacement/Advantage plans. We are a contracted HealthSpring provider. We also accept Medicaid, although our care is limited by what they will authorize. This is also true for most private insurance providers. We can accept most, but ultimately, they must grant authorization before we can provide service.
Which areas do you service?
We service a 90 mile radius of Tyler and a 90 mile radius of Beaumont/Pt Arthur.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Suzy Sheridan and Darrell Sheridan are the owners. Both take an active role in the daily operations of the agencies.
What are your hours of operation?
Our office is open Mon thru Fri, 8:30a til 5p. However, a nurse is ALWAYS on call.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
You cared for my <"mom"/"dad"> when I had little hope and now s/he is independent once again!
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
